Works by Dallas artists featured in the exhibition  Hakeem Adewumi and Vicki Meek also join the collection, including Adewumi’s This Next Kinship Belongs to Us and two works from Meek’s series on Black female leaders, Ida B Wells and Ella Baker, illustrating pivotal and often overlooked figures within the civil rights movement. Adewumi is the creator of the Juneteenth House Project, a multidisciplinary project that merges design and art to create vivid and obscure bodies of work about Black life in Texas. Meek is a trailblazing artist whose work highlights the complex realities of the Black experience and the main cultural bearers who have made a impact in history.
